THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH You really have to be devoted to people in order to paint them the way I do. Click to enlarge Pictures THelmut Zwerger is an Austrian Contemporary Artist who paints celebs and other people he loves and the first artist to have an exhibition of his paintings in a gallery in aerospace. Born in 1943 in Innsbruck, Austria amid the ravages of war, Helmut Zwerger grew up during the reconstruction period. His formal studies were medicine where he earned his doctorate. As a young Dentist and Jazz musician, Helmut Zwerger became obsessed with painting in a later part of his life, sicce 1993 and has become remarkably successful. He has been commissioned by celebrities and dignitaries such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Danny Devito, Luciano Pavarotti, Downhill Skier Franz Klammer, Herman Maier, Rock music legend Keith Richards, Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, Formula One Race Car driver Gerhard Berger, Formular One Legend Jackie Stewart and Austrian Chancellor Franz Vranitzky. HISTORY IN SPACE - Zwerger's Paintings The First Paintings brought into Space – from Rocket to Shuttle On October 18, 2003 paintings by Helmut Zwerger under the title "Oil @ ALL" were brought with a Sojus TMA-3 carrier rocket from the aerospace base in Bajkonur to the ISS space shuttle under the control of Russian cosmonaut and "space-gallerist" Alexander Kaleri. Portraits of Juri Gagarin, the first man in space, star tenor Luciano Pavarotti as well as US-Senator and astronaut John Glenn were in outer space for 200 days over a distance of 150 MM km., a distance which equals the one from earth to sun. These paintings have never been exhibitied before. Helmut Zwerger is an individual who breathes in life and lives it to the fullest. His expressionist portraits and paintings embody his passion in the bold complement of raw colour and dynamic emotion. Zwerger's work has won the attention and praise of the international art world. One of his latest accomplishments was exhibiting in Russia, at the Museum of Contemporary Art Minsk, White Russia. He also has successfully captured the world of Jazz in his "Collection of the world of Jazz Portraits, exhibited at the ARTEXPO of 1995 in New York City. The internationally acknowledged art critic Thomas Flora says …“Helmut Zwerger, the painter always was unpredictable. His painting comes from musicality and is a furious friend of colour. The jazz musician does not only come through in themes and motifs, but also in colourful expression and in the strong and spontaneous brushstrokes. He paints the way in which a musician improvises, lonely and absent-minded, untouched by the noises around, in the track of his melody. Zwerger is an expressive painter so that we could talk about the movements and possibilities of a new expressionism. It looks as if Helmut Zwerger has started to collect, retain and ferment his painting which ultimately comes comes to an explosion. It not only has to do with memories of Louis Armstrong and Marilyn Monroe, but also with a confrontation with classical modern art, Impressionism and Expressionism…" One of his latest accomplishments was exhibiting in Russia, at the Museeum of Contemporary Art Minsk, White Russia.
